Weekend of Soccer and Pumpkin Patch

Lauren had a regularly scheduled soccer game on Saturday and a makeup one on Sunday. Whew...it's been a few months since we had a whole weekend of soccer! Her team shut out both teams. On Saturday they won 10-0 and Sunday 8-0. Her team is currently in 1st place. Lauren HATES to run (just like her mother), but her coaches have clearly got a hold of what these girls need to be able to play in this league.

It was such a nice day/weekend and the games were played at the right time so we brought the boys.

Ian..he loved these bushes. He and the other kids were constantly in and out of them.

On Monday, Emily and I took the boys to one of the many pumpkin patches here in the metroplex. They..ok we all had a great time.

Ms. Emily is such a wonderful help in and out of the house!!

Poor goats! Logan was feeding them ONE piece at a time, while the other boys just threw the feed by handfuls to the goats.

Their very first hayride!! They liked it so much we had to ride it twice! We will be visiting another pumpkin patch in the next couple weeks with their cousin Ava!

Vacation July 2010

Ahh..our first summer vacation as a family of 6!! Where do we decide to go? Someplace close? Oh heck no...we go to Michigan, an 18+ hour drive.

The drive wasn't really that bad going (coming back was a different story). We only drove 6-7 hours a day with plenty of stops and we made sure the hotels that we stayed at had pools.

We got to see some extended family at a party that my sister and brother threw for us. It's so much easier for everyone to come to us.

There was a lot of snuggling going on:

Aunt Kathy and Travis

Keaton and Logan

Partying with family:

Keaton is waiting on his next order!

Uncle Bob teaching Ian to play cards.

Uncle Jim, Aunt Shirley, and Iva Lynn.

Great Aunt Elma June, cousin Maggie, and Great Uncle Bob chatting with Bob, Katie, Sonya and Janette.

Some cleaning....

Hanging around the fire..making s'mores, telling jokes. There were no lighting of bodily functions at this campfire...apparently we keep that for the Phillips pool party!

Lauren with her new cousin.

Ian with Bev and Papa.

Keaton and "mini me"

Last, but not least. I saw my pen pal, Chari. I've known Chari since I was about 9 years old. She is a friend of my cousin, Tammy, and we met my Aunt and Uncle that weekend to go camping. I remember Chari being so patient with me as I wanted to hang around the "big girls". We exchanged addresses and we wrote each other back and forth for years. Then when I turned 16 we worked at the same place in town. Even after moving to Hawaii, Chari and I kept in touch..maybe not as frequently as we both would have liked! I try to see Chari whenever I'm in town, but this time she made it to the party.

I'm guessing vacations from now on will be getting easier, right?

Today was the first day of school for Ms. L. She said she was ready to go back to school, but I'm not convinced!

Lauren didn't get a picture with Travis since he was still sleeping when she left...he missed out only because he was up from 2-4 a.m.

It's about Logan

I know it's been a couple of days since my last post, I just wanted to keep the kids latest photos up top for a few days longer. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Not much else to report...oh yeah, I've been up most of the night with Mr. Logan in the emergency room. It seems as if he has croup. He was having difficulty breathing and woke up coughing at around 2 :45 a.m. I didn't hesitate to get dressed and to take him to the ER. After a breathing treatment and a steroid shot, the inflammation in his throat subsided and he was able to move some air. His oxygen level went up from 80 to 95. We were informed that we would be there for at least 3 hours after the steroid to make sure it was working. After 2 hours it seemed it was working and then he started having difficulty again. The nurse rushed in as well as the Dr. The nurse was ready with another shot and the Dr told her to wait a minute. Logan started to breath better so a second shot was not needed. The ER Dr said that if another shot was needed that meant an automatic admission for the day, he didn't want that and to keep it from happening we would have to stay longer. Of course, we stayed as long as we needed to and was discharged at 7 a.m. (4 hours later)

As of right now, 5:30 p.m. he is fine. He is coughing a bit but is no longer in distress. WHEW.

Figured since I was on the subject of Logan I would share some recent pics!

July Photosession - 2 yr pics

Wow - yet another award for bad blogger. I think I might just come up with my own blogging assignment; instead of 365 days of blogging I'm going to make a goal of blogging each remaining day in August. I'm so an underachiever!! Any takers how long this will last?? I didn't think so.

We are back from vacation. I had a wonderful time in Michigan visiting my family. Pictures will be posted once I upload them and organize them...and hey since I'm going to be blogging each day for the rest of August, it will give me something to talk about!!

Before we left for our vacation we had the kids pictures done with one of our favorite photographers Jackie @ www.jacquelinereitzphotography.com.
